I am currently over a week behind on my blogging because I've been putting off writing about this picture. Today was a mixed bag of emotions for my family as we gathered in Dalton, GA to celebrate my Memama's life and also mourn her passing on Thursday. The service with the eulogy from my Uncle John was beautiful and gave a wonderful reflection of her life both long before and during her battle with alzheimer's that had kept her from being herself for the past almost ten years.
I would've loved to have known her better back before her mind started going. It was clear from all the sweet words said about her by her friends and family today that she was truly a the epitome beautiful Southern woman both inside and out. And all I can think about now, as I'm writing is how excited I am to get to see and know her one day in heaven, away from all the disease and pain of this world! What an amazing thing to look forward to, to get to see my sweet Memama again whom I love so much and who I know loved Ned, Julia, and I, and all the rest of her grandchildren and family so much! We will keep missing her here, but we also all so look forward to being with her again someday!
