April 15: J.T. Hood

This creeper picture of an office door in Funchess Hall (no I do not know if Dr. Hood was in there or now) was taken so that I can talk about how amazed I am by this man.  Professor Hood is 97 years old!!!!
He retired from teaching back in the 80s, but he still comes to campus everyday in a full suit and works in his office with an open door policy, happy to talk to any Ag student who wants a little of his many many years of knowledge. He is a sweet old man and still very with it.  I love the testament that just his presence on campus is to Auburn! He believes in Auburn and loves it!! Even after over 50 years of teaching!

April 14: Blood Drive

This year, a volunteer opportunity that I've (surprisingly) really enjoyed has been helping out at Blood Drives.  It's a fairly easy job - take people drinks while they're giving blood and make sure they don't faint after they're done - but because I can't give blood (for a variety of reasons including that I get queasy just thinking about it) volunteering makes me feel like I'm still helping the cause!
Today, Erin gave blood for the second time.  When she gave back in the fall, she fainted twice and had a huge bruise on her arm for about a month afterwards.  But today, she gave while I was there volunteering, and I was glad to be there to distract her from the needles and to make sure she made it back to the Hill safely afterwards...although she did have a semi-fainting spell late this afternoon, this time was much less scary as a whole and she is so excited that she saved 3 lives! look at her sportin that "I gave blood" sticker and the hardcore arm bandage! (: #proudofyou

April 13: A little bit of culture

Tonight (for class credit) I went to see my first ever performance of Shakespeare on stage when I went to see the Auburn Theater performance of Hamlet (excuse the poor photo quality - camera phone in the theater where "no flash photography is allowed" heh).  I was very skeptical going in and half expected to be bored to death/struggling to keep my eyes open, but I was pleasantly mistaken.  The play was amazing! Great acting, a cool semi-modernized version of the play, and of course the story like that has entertained people for centuries.  I loved that I could completely understand the dialogue because of how well it was spoken and that right at 99 minutes long the play was just the right amount of long.
Maybe I should have a little more faith in ole Billy.  I see more Shakespeare on stage in my future.

April 12: Greek Sing

It finally got here!  Go ADSpy, it's Greek Sing night (:
We've been practicing for over 2 months for this dance competition - contrary to it's misleading name, Greek Sing has no singing, it's just all the sororities doing three and a half minute themed dancing to win the rush bragging rights of a Greek Sing place.
(Side Note: I clearly did not take this photo, seeing as I was on stage.  I feel kinda bad for breaking my blogging/picture taking rules, but this is a one time exception!)
After all the long practice hours, the getting dressed up and the pre-performance jitters with the adrenaline rush of performing made it so worth it!  I've so missed the rush of cheerleading competitions this year, and tonight Greek Sing filled the void (:
AND we place THIRD (out of 17)!! That is definitely something to be very proud of!
It was completely worth the time commitment in the long run, and now it's over so I have my life back, too  #winning

April 11: Last lab

Monday’s as a whole are generally very fun with a big exception: Chem Lab.  They have been absolutely miserably killer this semester.  However, today as I walked up to the building, I had a little internal (mostly) jump for joy because today is my last one! And since I’m putting off Organic Chemistry until next spring, this is really my last chemistry lab for a long while! Joyful day!

April 10: Really? Again?

Wow, I didn't expect to have a blank post again already.  I need to stop losing track of pictures like this...because in all honesty, I'm writing this in May and even though I have been taking pictures everyday, I've clearly let the blogging get away from me.
And in this procrastination I've lost April 10th...even though I can tell you what I did - It was the day of our last huge Greek Sing practice (see April 12th) and I spent literally 2pm - 11pm in the chapter room practicing our dance for Tuesday. So I may not have even taken a picture with all that Greek Singing going on.
But I promise, I'm trying to do better with these pictures!  Catching up, slowly but surely (:

April 9: Fam at Crepe Myrtle

At the end of their Spring Break, my family headed back to Augusta this afternoon.  But, as a tradition that my mom has developed this year, she cannot visit Auburn without a trip to Crepe Myrtle Cafe.  As a late lunch today, we went to Crepe Myrtle, and even though it took forever (as usual) it was great food at a cool restaurant.
It was a great Thursday - Saturday having my family here, but even though I'm missing them as they're leaving, I'm very happy to be staying in Auburn as they head back to the AUG.

April 8: Let's pretend I don't go here...

The Pruitt fam-jam is here and taking Auburn by storm! I abandoned my identity as a student for the afternoon and pretended that I was a tourist for the day as Ned and the rest of the fam made the official Auburn college visit.  After our campus tour, we ended the day on campus exactly how you should - with a big Toomer's lemonade downtown!  Julia's even wearing the National Championship shirt I sent her. It just goes to show what pros they are at Auburn by now.
Bravo Pruitt fam

April 7: Garden of Memory

My family is on the way to Auburn for Spring Break right now and miraculously, I have no homework this afternoon...or at least no homework that I feel like doing (:
So, as I wait for all the Pruitts to roll into Auburn, I'm enjoying myself, laying out in the Garden of Memory while sipping a blue coconut slush from Sonic (a favorite that I rarely get because it turns your entire mouth blue) and reading a book for Crop Science (I guess that's homework-esque, but it's a novel, so no harm no foul).
The spring weather and the blooming flowers are just lovely, and I'm enjoying this couple minutes of break very much (:
A book with some sonic on a restful afternoon outside in Auburn is about as close to perfect as it gets.

April 6: FAIL

I knew this day would come, but it still is a little frustrating to have to report that I failed in my picture taking resolution today.  It somehow just slipped my mind, and I have nothing to show.
I guess the world will never know what happened on April 6th (:

April 5: Kansas?

Last night, a giant storm hit town.  Huge winds, lots of lightening, power out all over town (minus the dorms on back up generators, thank goodness), but Muffy, Erin, and I actually enjoyed sitting in our room watching it all while feeling safe and cozy!
It wasn't until this morning walking to class that I realized what a huge storm this was. Observe.  Trees split in half, but miraculously, not damage to any buildings on buildings on campus.  And it was just that, miraculously!  God showed His huge power in a giant storm while still protecting everyone on campus.  Our God is good, and our God is great!

April 4: Garden of Memory

Today I had the treat of showing a friend from high school who was in Auburn looking at the school a tour of my Auburn.  I always love getting to show off my school, my favorite places on campus, and my favorite people (:
After walking around campus, Haley and I took a blanket to the Garden of Memory at the edge of the hill and just spent some time catching up on life back in Augusta and what college has been like this year.
Great spring weather + great conversation with a sweet friend = a wonderful afternoon!

April 3: Crepe Myrtle

The best Sunday lunch in Auburn? Crepes at Crepe Myrtle Cafe!
This adorable little organic/local grocery store which is built into Blooming Colors Nursery is the definition of an escape right in the middle of College Street.  Even though getting your fresh handmade crepe takes forever, sitting outside in the sun in this quiet little cafe while sipping lemon water (with amazing ice) makes the whole experience relaxing and the perfect way to spend a restful Sunday afternoon!
Crepe Myrtle will always be a fave!
