June 7: Hammond's Ferry

I had a flashback to being 6 years old again when today after a morning of doctor’s appointments, my mom suggested we go out to a splurge lunch.  The 19-year-old equivalent of a Happy Meal was a yummy lunch at a little restaurant called Emmanuel’s Bread Cafe. The food was great, but my favorite part about this place is the location.  It’s right across the river in this little community/neighborhood called Hammond’s Ferry that looks like a Stepford Charleston dated about 100 years back.  Perfect little houses all in a row. Super quite with the river just a block or two over your shoulder.  Ideal retirement dream.  A taste of the low-country in Augusta like it was plucked right out of a Nicholas Sparks book.  I feel a little (no, actually really) to be thinking about retirement plans, but I don’t know, I can just see myself as a little old lady sitting on a porch like this.  Haha we’ll see one day far, far away!
