April 14: Blood Drive

This year, a volunteer opportunity that I've (surprisingly) really enjoyed has been helping out at Blood Drives.  It's a fairly easy job - take people drinks while they're giving blood and make sure they don't faint after they're done - but because I can't give blood (for a variety of reasons including that I get queasy just thinking about it) volunteering makes me feel like I'm still helping the cause!
Today, Erin gave blood for the second time.  When she gave back in the fall, she fainted twice and had a huge bruise on her arm for about a month afterwards.  But today, she gave while I was there volunteering, and I was glad to be there to distract her from the needles and to make sure she made it back to the Hill safely afterwards...although she did have a semi-fainting spell late this afternoon, this time was much less scary as a whole and she is so excited that she saved 3 lives! look at her sportin that "I gave blood" sticker and the hardcore arm bandage! (: #proudofyou
